#30DaysofPDXMakers Feature Tproject

June 12, 2015

T Project’s Teri Gelber is on a mission to convert Portland’s coffee guzzling denizens into tea thinkers. The beautifully packaged, small-batch tea is already a hot commodity for Portland’s well-steeped drinkers, while her custom blends can be found on menus all around town, from Boke Bowl to Nostrana. Now, a year and half after quietly launching T Project, Gelber is opening a storefront location at 723 NW 18th Avenue: part tea salon, part boutique, and part art gallery.

Starting June 12, expect to find everything tea-related at the small, white-walled shop, from T Project’s meticulous blends, tastings, and teatime treats (like homemade earl grey and matcha shortbread cookies) to local ceramics, specialty soaps, and candles. The gallery component will kick off with a showcase of handmade matcha bowls by nine different artists from Brooklyn to Los Angeles to Portland. “I’m bringing the same energy to tea that revitalized the coffee scene here in the Pacific Northwest,” says Gelber. “I am excited for the tea nerds, but even more so for people who aren’t converts yet.”
